Relational Trauma Therapy · Philadelphia, PA

Therapy for deeper
connection & healing

Reaching out takes courage. You don't have to know exactly why — just that something needs to change, and we can figure the rest out together.

Hi, I'm Varney (they/she) — a licensed clinical social worker and therapist based in Philadelphia, PA, offering both in-person and telehealth sessions.

I specialize in working with adults navigating the lasting impact of relational trauma — the harm or challenges from early relationships that show up in adult life as a struggle to feel connected, to yourself and to others. My clients are often curious, self-reflective people who sense that something deeper is getting in the way, even if they can't quite name it yet. I offer a warm, affirming space where you can bring your whole self — including the parts you're still figuring out.

We might be a good fit if you are…

~Curious about how your past relationships and experiences are impacting your present

~Struggling with anxiety, uncertainty, or feelings of loneliness in your relationships

~Exploring your identity or looking for an affirming, queer-friendly space

~A parent or family member of a queer child wanting to show up for them more fully

~Exploring parenthood through pregnancy, adoption, or surrogacy

~Recovering from experiences with high-demand religious or spiritual groups

~Wanting to feel more connected to yourself and others

Warm, collaborative,
and deeply relational

My approach

My approach is rooted in psychodynamic, relational, and person-centered therapy with a social justice-oriented lens that honors every identity and experience you bring into the room.
